EVENT RECAP
Randy Bryant Becomes First Player to Defend a Major Title by Winning Back to Back WAGT Opens but Victory is Bitter Sweet.
In a historic win for Randy Bryant to become the first member to ever defend a major title on the WAGT He couldn't had felt worse. Randy started 7 strokes off the leader going into the final round. The leader, his teenaged son, Logan Bryant shot a gross career best 75 on day one to jump out to a commanding 5 stroke lead at net -5 under par. Randy cut the lead by 3 on the front nine by shooting a 37 while Logan shot a 40. With 9 to play Logan had a 4 stroke lead but Randy kept applying the pressure with 10 consecutive 4's starting from the 2nd hole and ending with 6 consecutive par's. Logan on the other hand recorded a handful of birdies to accompany and handful of double bogies in a roller coaster back nine. The most crucial was the double bogie on 17 giving away his two stroke lead to be in a tie with his Father going into the 130 yard par 3 18th finishing hole. Logan had a 10 footer for par to force a playoff just to see it just miss while Randy practically fell to his knees in disappointment that his sons par putt did not drop. " I have never felt so bad after a win"  Randy said in a post round interview " I really was pulling for him to win, but it will not be long until the torch is passed and I will have to ground him so I can beat him" he added. In an act of good sportsmanship Logan took his 2nd place gift card winnings and bought gifts for his father.
In flight two it was a dog fight between Tim Borgwadt and Jerry Edwards. Tim who is seeking his first major win was up against the tours most prolific winner in Jerry Edwards. Tim jumped out to a one stroke lead over Jerry after day on at -2. Tim had built up a 7 stroke lead with only 3 holes to play when the wheels started to fall off and Tim struggled to the finish line. Recording two bogies and a quadruple bogie to record a score of 6 hove par in three holes This Opened the door for Jerry to make a last minute charge. Jerry shoot three consecutive par's but needed one birdie to force a playoff. Tim won first major of his career with a winning net score of +3 over par.

Flight 3 was a dog fight for 27 holes between Connell Swain and Carlos Gonzalez. Swain Jumped off to a great start recording a -6 under par on the front 9 on day one but came back to the field on the back 9 when he shoot 10 strokes higher and ended in a tie for 1st with Carlos at -1 under par. On day two Carlos took a one stroke lead after nine holes but it was all Connell Swain on the back nine to pull ahead and win by three strokes. This was Connell's 1st Major and major victory.
National Order of Merit- With  33 players in the OPEN the WAGT is now on pace to award two USA Team spots to 1st and 2nd on the National Order of Merit. Logan Bryant who finished in 2nd place overall at the Open recorded 366 points. Just enouph to maintain his 1st place lead by only 25 points over Randy Bryant who gained ground towards 1st with the Open Victory
